      Fellow David Yepsen “From Cinderellas to Pumpkins” (Guest: Tom Vilsack)

      This seminar will look at political reporting through an Iowa lens. How local reporters in Iowa become important to the national campaign story - before they turn back into pumpkins after the caucuses. We’ll discuss the making of media events. Spin. Expectations, games and how candidates “win” Iowa and other primary contests. Special Guest: Tom Vilsack, former Governor of Iowa (1999-2007) & U.S. Secretary of Agriculture (2009-2017) This seminar is part of IOP Pritzker Fellow David Yepsen's series, “Campaign Journalism 101." This seminar is open to students only and off the record. Registration is required. However, seating is limited on a first come, first serve basis; capacity in the IOP Living Room is 45. Doors will open 30 minutes before the event begins. Any unclaimed seats will be released 10 minutes before the event begins. Please arrive early to claim your seat.
