      Kite Making from Reclaimed Umbrellas

      This is a beginner's kite-making demonstration workshop. You will learn how you can make diamond kites using reclaimed nylon umbrellas. This class will involve basic hand-stitching techniqiues. The workshop is taught by Whitney Richardson, a co-founder of the Kite Collective, a group of friends that use kites as a platform to connect with the environment, community and self in a playful and transient way. Kite-making kits from the Kite Collective will be available for purchase should you want to make your own! The kit will include a scaleable template, pre-cut umbrella fabric, bamboo for spine/spars, string for the sail, flying line & material for the tail, along with instructions, a flying tutorial & options for modification. Cost of kit: $7. (Cash only).
