Second Presbyterian Church will host a lecture entitled Chicago in the Roaring 20s on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019 at 5:00 pm at the church, located at 1936 S. Michigan Avenue.

      1920s Chicago had it all:

Jazz music to Flappers; Speakeasies to the Opera House.

The Roaring Twenties were marked by a feeling of novelty and a break with traditions.

Chicagoans flocked to theaters for entertainment, shopped on Michigan Avenue for the latest fashions and enjoyed new foods including Reese’s Peanut Buttercups and Wonder Bread. Lecturer is Kathleen Murphy Skolnik from the Department of Art at Roosevelt University.

A reception will follow the lecture along with live jazz music performed by Steven Bowman, Jr. and Joseph Powers.
