      EVENT DETAILS
Greektown Public Art Exhibit Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Greektown Chicago SSA #16 and the Greektown Arts Committee will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the 2019 public art exhibit: The Modernity of the Ancient Greek Discus. This year’s exciting installation pays homage to an ancient Greek sport in an ultra-modern way and adds additional Hellenic pride to the culturally-rich neighborhood. The event will include a ceremonial ribbon cutting and statements from Alderman Walter Burnett, Jr., and representatives from the SSA #16 and the arts committee.

The new art program includes 20 vibrant sculptures commissioned by 20 local professional artists and local schools, each showcasing their individual creativity while adding beauty to the neighborhood. The newly-installed exhibition lines the streets of Greektown on Halsted Street and in front of a few of the neighborhood’s merchants to further enhance the area
