      Meditation & Chanting

Meditation at 4:00 pm Chanting at 5:00 pm   Each calendar quarter, our meditations and chants are chosen with a special focus: Saturday, July 27 - The Gayatri mantra returns! The Gayatri mantra supports our understanding of the Unity from which all manifests Saturday, August 24 - Gayatri mantra Saturday, September 28 - Gayatri mantra   Meditation is just $5.00 Chanting is FREE!   Studies show that meditation and chanting have positive effects on your emotions, brain and body - calming emotions, increasing the ability to process information and even softening physical pain. The National Institute of Health (NIH) tells us that meditation may physically change the brain and body, potentially improving many health problems with lasting effects beyond the time you spend in meditation. Regular meditation practice can create new neural pathways for peaceful thoughts and calmer emotions. We will enjoy: Aromatherapy for calming An easy stress release exercise A short guided meditation A longer silent meditation   After meditation, stay for a free call-and-response chanting experience. It will uplift and inspire you for your weekend!   Mantras are the mind vibration in relationship to the Cosmos. The science of mantra is based on the knowledge that sound is a form of energy, having structure, power and a definite predictable effect on the human psyche…Mantra takes the vibratory effect of each of your molecules into the Infinity of the Cosmos.  ~Siri Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan Beginners welcome - no experience in meditation or chanting needed   Chanting Never chanted before? Come and give it a try! We will be chanting to a cd.   We will do both 'sing along' and 'call and response' chanting.   'Call and response' chanting means that first the “caller” sings the verse and then the audience repeats it. It’s easy! If you’re a visual person, we’ll have handouts with the words, definitions and explanations on them. The gateways to the soul are opened with prayer, voice, sound, and repetition. The repetition of a vocal sound modifies and is remarkably healing to the breath, the body and the mind. Brainwaves begin to balance after only three or four minutes, and the muscle and skin temperature increases.  Chanting is a simple way to reduce stress and anxiety. Sacred chants bring about transformations in your awareness. Chanting opens you to the unfoldment of your potential into the field of possibilities, making it possible for you to fulfill any desire you have. You will have created a new reality.   The above information on chanting is adapted from liner notes to Om Namaha Shivaya, by Robert Gass Free parking Testimonials Meditation testimonials Liked the breathing (alternate) nostril prior (to meditation). Visualized I was sitting in a golden sphere from my heart and floating. ~ Melody Metzger Chanting testimonials Felt it through my entire body.
